Description

This is a large, detached house located on West Hill in Minchinhampton. It was originally built in the mid-18th century and underwent restoration and alterations in the mid-to-late 19th century. The house is constructed of coursed and squared limestone, with coursed rubble on the sides and rear, and has ashlar chimneys and a stone slate roof. It is a two-story house with an attic, arranged with a double pile plan.

The front elevation has a symmetrical five-window arrangement. All windows are 12-pane sashes with keyed, moulded architraves. A central 19th-century porch addition features Mannerist detailing and a shaped parapet. The front door is a six-panel door with a keyed segmental arch above. The exterior features a plain plinth, an upper floor level band, and a modillion eaves cornice. Alternating quoins are chamfered. The roof is sprocketed, with three gabled dormers containing leaded casements. Three ridge chimneys have plain caps.

The north-facing rear range has a hipped end and includes a blocked two-light, chamfered mullioned upper floor casement with a hoodmould, along with an altered opening that was originally partly a two-light opening in the ground floor. A 19th-century and a 20th-century addition are present at the south end. The interior has not been inspected.
