Description
Horseshoe Cottage consists of two houses in a row, dating from the late 17th century and mid 18th century. They are constructed from random and coursed squared rubble limestone, with ashlar and red brick chimneys, and have a concrete tile roof. The buildings are two-storey with an attic.
The front of No 1 features a single-window layout, with a 3-light window on the ground floor and a 2-light window above, both having chamfered mullions and hoodmoulds. The ground floor window's hoodmould links and rises over a doorway to the right, which has a stone lintel. No 2 has a two-window layout, with all windows being 2-light and featuring hoodmoulds; the ground floor hoodmould rises over a central doorway with a timber lintel. There is a 20th-century lean-to porch addition that is not of special interest. A single flat-roofed dormer with a 20th-century casement is also present, along with three ridge-mounted chimneys. Attached buildings at each end are not of special interest. The interior has not been inspected.
