Description
The Star Inn is a former house that became an inn, dating from the late 17th century with 18th century and later additions. It is constructed of coursed rubble limestone, featuring artificial stone rebuilt chimneys and a concrete tile roof. The building is two stories high with an attic and has a long two-story rear wing that forms an L-shape.
On the south front, there are two full gables and a two-window layout. The ground floor originally had three-light casement windows, while the upper floor has three-light windows and the attic has two-light windows, all of which are adorned with hoodmoulds. The hoodmoulds on the ground floor rise over two central doorways with stone lintels; one doorway is blocked, and the other has a plank door with a later stone hood. The original mullioned ground floor windows have been replaced by timber casements, while the upper floor and attic feature iron casements.
To the left, there is a single-storey outbuilding with a timber casement. The gable end chimneys have been rebuilt. The east side shows the gable end of the front range on the left, with the rear wing extending to the right, where the first part has 20th century casements. There are also blocked upper floor windows and a doorway leading to a later extension of the wing. The Star Inn has been recorded under this name since 1782.
