Description

Claypits Farmhouse is likely of early 18th-century origin. It is a brick farmhouse with a double Roman tile roof and brick end stacks. The building comprises an L-shaped range with a hipped rear corner, two storeys and an attic, together with a single-storey rear wing to the right and a lean-to extending across the remainder of the rear elevation. The north front has two windows, each with two lights of wood mullions and transoms under cambered heads, featuring splayed brick voussoirs. A blind central window bay sits above the front door, which has six bolection-moulded panels, the top two being glazed. Three gabled dormers, each with paired casements, are positioned on the roof. A similar window is present on each floor of the projecting wing to the left, the north face of which is entirely blank.
