Description
Woodmancote Farmhouse is a large, detached farmhouse dating from 1869, built for W.I. Phelps. It is constructed from coursed rubble limestone with ashlar dressings and features red and blue brick chimney stacks and a stone slate roof. The main block is two storeys with an attic and a rear wing creates a T-shaped layout; an outbuilding is attached to the west side of the rear wing. The front elevation has a symmetrical two-window arrangement of mullioned and transomed windows, each with a limestone lintel, a marlstone segmental relieving arch, and ashlar limestone sills. There are attic casements set within half-gabled dormers. A datestone reading WIP/AD/1869 is positioned at the upper floor level. Chimney stacks project from each gable end. The east side displays scattered mullioned and transomed casement windows, similar to the front, and includes two attic casements in half-gabled dormers. A doorway with a four-centred arched head, containing a plank door, is located on the right. Two ridge chimneys are present. A single-storey outbuilding is situated on the side of the wing, also with a gable end chimney. The farmhouse terminates the view south along Woodmancote at a bend in the road and is grouped with the nearby farm building and numbers 70 and 72 Woodmancote.
