Description

Stroud War Memorial is located within Park Gardens on Slad Road. It stands at the bottom of a gently sloping hill next to the footpath. The memorial is approximately 8 meters tall and constructed from Minchinhampton stone. It features a broad, tapering column that is square in shape, with clasping pilasters on each face, and rests on a square stone base. At the top of the column is a plain stone block.

The front face of the memorial has an inscription that is incised and painted black, which reads: "1914 – 1918/ TO THE FALLEN./ “AT THE GOING DOWN/ OF THE SUN AND IN/ THE MORNING WE WILL/ REMEMBER THEM.”/ 1939 – 1945/ AND ALL/ SUBSEQUENT/ CAMPAIGNS."
