Description

The Orchards is a late 18th-century house situated on the end of a terrace. It is constructed of brick with a slate roof and has brick end stacks topped with stone. The main range is single-depth, with a rear outshut and a 20th-century extension at a right angle. The house has two storeys and three windows on the front elevation. These windows are 16-pane sash windows, each with a stone keystone and voussoirs. Two similar windows are located on the ground floor, and a central doorcase, approached by one stone step, leads to a six-panel door: the upper four panels are fielded, and the lower two are flush. The doorcase features attached unfluted Doric columns, an open pediment, and a decorative radial fanlight.
