Description
Middleton House is a detached house dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of brick on a stone plinth, featuring a slate roof, a parapet wall, and brick end stacks. The building has a main front range and a rear outshut, with two storeys and an attic in the gable ends. The front facade includes three 16-pane sash windows, which have dressed stone voussoirs, a slightly dropped keystone, and a plat band above the first floor. There are two similar windows on the ground floor, along with a central doorcase that is accessed by two stone steps. This doorcase is topped with a swept lead roof and features a decorative early 19th-century ironwork porch, a semi-circular soffit with a decorative radial fanlight, and a six-panel fielded door. The attic gable ends each have a two-light leaded casement. The interior is not accessible but may be of interest.
