House, approximately dating from 1820 with additions in 1906. The construction is compacted sand and gravel on a rubble basement, faced with pebbledash, and has a Welsh slate roof. It is a villa built in a semi-Taylorian form, comprising four joined octagons. The house has three storeys. The main, garden front has three bays, with the central bay set forward as a full-height bay. It features plain sash windows and one modern casement window. The central bay contains tripartite windows. A band runs across the first floor. There are two plain French doors, overhanging eaves supported by brackets, and the central bay has a parapet. The entrance front includes a two-storey, four-window hall block built in 1906, with a large plain Tuscan porch. The ground floor has two large steel-framed casement windows, and the floor above has four smaller ones. The roof is hipped and supported by brackets. A further service section of three bays is present, featuring casement windows with elliptical heads, a plain door, and a tiled roof that is hipped to the right. The interior of the main block retains much contemporary joinery, including fireplaces and an unusual staircase which is part flying and part cantilevered, with a wrought iron balustrade and a mahogany handrail. The house is said to have been built by the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal Company as a residence for the chief engineer. It is situated midway along the canal and is visible from the important group of listed buildings on Frampton-on-Severn Green.
