Description
Saddlers Cottage is a detached house dating from around 1830, located on the north side of High Street, Chalford. The front of the house is constructed of coursed and squared limestone, with coursed rubble to the sides and rear. It has a rendered chimney and a concrete tile roof. The house is two storeys high with an attic, and features a return wing at the east end. The front façade has a three-window arrangement, with all windows being 16-pane sashes set in plain openings with stone lintels. There is a blank central recess on the upper floor, which was formerly painted to resemble a sash window. A central doorway is sheltered by a decorative wrought iron porch. A plain band runs along the upper floor level. The roof is hipped at the east end, with a gable-mounted chimney at the west end. Two 20th-century flush roof-lights are present. A 20th-century addition to the east end is not of architectural significance. The interior of the house has not been inspected.
