Description

Greenhill is a detached house dated 1698, with a mid to late 18th-century addition. It is constructed of random rubble limestone, features ashlar chimneys, and has a stone slate roof. The building is two storeys high with an attic and has a single-storey addition with an attic to the west. A 20th-century cross-wing at the west end and a single-storey outbuilding beyond are not of special interest.

The north front displays scattered fenestration on the original house's left side, including a 3-light cavetto mullioned casement with a hoodmould that has the date inscribed on the window jamb. There is a small stair-window to the right, followed by a doorway with a timber lintel and a glazed door. The upper floor has two timber windows with 20th-century opening casements. The addition to the right features two gabled roof dormers mounted on the eaves with 20th-century casements. There are two ridge-mounted chimneys, one of which has a moulded cap.

On the south side, the earliest part shows mixed fenestration, including three single-light casements. There is a central doorway with a stone lintel and a 20th-century door. To the left of this doorway is an addition with a glazed door and an iron porch, flanked by two casements, with a gabled eaves-mounted dormer above the left casement.

Inside, there are two large fireplaces with timber lintels and some square panel timber-framed upper floor partitions. The earliest part of the house has two roof trusses with principals that have curved feet.
