Description
Goring House is a house located at the end of a row in North Woodchester, built in the mid-18th century and extensively altered around 1830. The structure is made of random and coursed rubble limestone, with rebuilt chimneys of ashlar and artificial stone, and features a Welsh slate roof. It is two stories high with an attic, and includes a two-story rear wing and a parallel rear range.
The front of the house has a two-window arrangement beneath linking hoodmoulds, with all windows being 12-pane sashes. There is a doorway to the right with a chamfered opening that leads to a 20th-century door. The eaves have been raised in later coursed rubble, and there are two chimneys mounted on the ridgeline.
At the northeast corner, spear-topped railings are attached, ending with an ashlar limestone pier. The east end features a gable with scattered off-centre windows, including a 12-pane sash on the ground floor and a 16-pane sash in the attic. There is also a 19th-century brick wing to the left, which is now painted and has mixed casement windows. The interior has not been inspected. Goring House is part of a group with The Cottage.
