Description

Knapp House is a house situated on the end of a row, dating from the mid- to late 17th century, with significant restoration work carried out in the 20th century. The house is constructed of coursed rubble limestone, with a rubble chimney and a stone slate roof. It is two storeys with an attic. The front gable has a single window on the lower level, with an additional 20th-century casement window to the left. The windows are recessed cavetto mullioned with hoodmoulds; a 3-light window is on the ground floor, a 2-light window on the upper floor, and a single attic light. A 20th-century lean-to rubble-built porch is located on the left. The west end features a blank gable with a chimney. The rear has a similar gable and window arrangement as the front, but with 20th-century replacement casements. The interior has not been inspected. An adjoining row to the east was rebuilt in the 20th century and does not hold special architectural interest. Knapp House is part of a group with Lower Court and Lower Court Cottage.
