Description
The Court House is a former court house, now serving as an exhibition hall with a flat above. It was built in 1865 for J.E. Dorington of Lypiatt Park. The structure is made of coursed and squared limestone and features a Welsh slate roof. This two-storey building is positioned forward of the main building line and is designed in the Tudor Revival style.
The front facade has three windows on the ground floor beneath a continuous string course. The central window is a three-light design, flanked by two-light windows, all topped with Tudor arched heads. There are two upper floor dormers at eaves level, each with gabled roofs and 2-light casements. A central carved panel displays the Dorington arms along with ribbon bands inscribed with 'BISLEY COURT HOUSE' and 'A.D.1865'. The gabled ends of the parapet each feature upper floor casements with mullions and transoms.
Stone steps lead to the upper floor doorway at the south end, while the north end has an off-centre Tudor arched doorway with a 2-light casement window to its left. The interior has not been inspected. This building replaced a small market hall that previously occupied the site and is partly used as a meeting room for the local Board of Health.
