Description
Cambray is a house located on the east side of Bisley Street in Painswick. It dates from the late 18th century, early 19th century, or possibly the 17th century. The front is made of limestone ashlar, and it has a concrete tile roof. The building has two storeys, an attic, and part of a basement, featuring three windows. The symmetrical front has two wide 20-pane sash windows on the ground floor beneath a continuous plat band. The first floor has 12-pane sash windows, also under a continuous plat band, with a plain section of wall above and a moulded eaves cornice. There are two gabled 2-light dormers with leaded casements. A basement opening is located on the left side. The central entrance consists of a 6-panel part glazed fielded panel door, which is topped by a flat wooden hood supported by brackets. A stone gable stack is positioned on the right side. Notably, the street frontage was moved forward by 1.5 meters in the 19th century.
