Description

This is a house in a row, dating to the 17th century with a facade from the 18th century. It is constructed of limestone ashlar with a slate roof. The building is slightly set back from Byfield House, which is located to the right. It is two storeys and has an attic. The ground floor features a sixteen-pane sash window on the left side and a 20-pane, flat-roofed, 20th-century canted bay with aluminium basement returns on the right. Above, at the first floor, are two widely spaced twelve-pane sash windows. The attic has two flat-roofed dormers with leaded two-light casements. The central entrance has a six-panel fielded door within a chamfered surround, a deep stone lintel, and a pediment canopy with a segmental intrados, moulded edge, and consoles. A cellar grille is visible on the left side. The building has a plat-band string and a cill band above it, with moulded eaves, a cornice, and a plinth. It has a very steep roof pitch.
