Description

Talbot Court Farmhouse, along with the attached barn to the east, is a house dating from the late 17th century that was remodeled and extended in the mid-19th century. It is built of rubble with freestone dressings and features a Cotswold stone slate roof. The farmhouse has two storeys and attics, arranged in an L-plan. The west wing consists of three bays with a gabled cross wing at the north end. On the ground floor, there are two mid to late 19th-century bay windows beneath a slate pentice roof, and on the first floor, two three-light casement windows with segmental heads, including mullions in the cross wing. A 20th-century door is located under a moulded segmental hood. The north wing has a three-light casement window with hollow chamfered mullions and surround, a two-light casement window in a stone half dormer, and a panelled door under a hood on brackets to the left. A two-storey extension to the right connects the house with the barn. The barn is dated "1764," which is scratched on a quoin, and was re-roofed in the 1980s. It is also built of rubble with a Cotswold stone slate roof and features a gabled projecting porch with a square-headed carriage entry and a tie and collar beam roof.
