Description
A group of 13 monuments is located in the churchyard approximately 20 meters north of the nave of the Church of the Holy Trinity in Minchinhampton. This group, dating from the early to late 18th century, consists of three pedestal tombs, one chest tomb, and nine headstones arranged in two rows.
The monuments are made of limestone and include a tall rectangular pedestal tomb featuring an enriched frieze on its moulded ends and moulded domical coping, inscribed to Benjamin Hayward, who died in 1787. There are two lower rectangular pedestal tombs, one with gadrooned ends and the other with finely carved ends, with the eastern tomb adorned with a sarcophagus and urns. The rectangular chest tomb has beaded panels and is inscribed to Sarah Webb Hiatt, who died in 1817. The nine headstones are all finely carved and well-preserved, with one featuring an anthropomorphic inscription panel.
