Description

The gate screen located approximately 18 meters south of Pitchcombe House is a Grade II listed structure, built around 1740 for Thomas Palling. It features four piers that support a gateway and screen, constructed from ashlar limestone with timber gates and screen. Each pier has a moulded cap and a gadrooned urn finial, with two of the piers topped by small pineapples and the outer two adorned with grenades. Round-fronted stone steps lead up to the central double-leaf timber gates. The decorative screen fencing is a replacement for the original 18th-century design. This gate screen is aligned with Pitchcombe House.
