Description
The Fluck monument is a late 18th-century pedestal tomb located in the churchyard about 17 meters north of the northeast corner of the tower of the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul in Westbury-on-Severn. It is made of stone and features a square center with semi-circular ends. The monument has a square dome with a small roll, cavetto moulding, roll, and upstand, along with half cyma domes at each end and a moulded edge on top. The sides have raised oval panels for lettering, adorned with egg-and-dart edge moulding and corner paterae. The ends display a fluted frieze, a horizontal oval, and a moulded base, all resting on a moulded plinth. The monument commemorates Joseph Fluck, who died in 1790, and his wife, who died in 1786. The top of the inscription features Gothic lettering with scrolls and some italic lettering, along with some later inscriptions.
