Description

Rock Farmhouse is an early 19th-century farmhouse constructed from grey random rubble, featuring thin stones that are roughly coursed, with larger squared red quoins and window voussoirs. The roof is tiled. The building is three windows wide and two rooms deep, with rear rooms located in a lean-to at the front, and it stands three stories tall.

The facade is symmetrical, highlighted by a gabled timber-framed porch that has three vertical lights on each side, each with a semi-circular head of glass. The front door is a four-panel design, with the top two panels glazed, and there is one glazed panel on each side of the door. Above the door, there is a steep segmental arch with a large trefoil filling the gable. The roof features shaped bargeboards, crested ridge tiles, and club tiles.

On either side of the porch, there are three-light mullion and transom windows with a timber frame and iron opening casements. The tops of these windows are segmental, with stone voussoirs and a stepped keystone arch. A plain red stone string course runs between the windows and extends a short distance towards the gable.

On the first floor, the outer windows mirror those below, while the center features a two-light window of similar design. A plain red string course links the three first-floor windows. The second floor has two-light casement windows positioned above the outer windows below, with flat tops to the glazing and cambered brick-on-edge arches. A square, plain grey stone is located in the center, possibly intended as a datestone. The metal opening lights retain hooks, double catches, and spurs. Brick gable chimneys are situated on the ridge, integrated within the building's envelope.
