11/256 Constans monument, in churchyard, about 9m south-east of south-east corner of tower, Church of St. Peter and St. Paul

GV II

Chest tomb; first half C18; stone. Flat lid, simply moulded edge. South side main centre flanked by narrow panels: carved head with swags. North side single panel, fully lettered, save carved heads centrally placed at each end with an open book below each. Ends projecting consoles with leaf carving on long-side face, framing an irregular circle marked by scrolls and swags. Inscription to Richard Constans, died 174-, tenant at Grange Court, (q.v.): other inscriptions to same family, going back to 1681. (Victoria County History, Gloucestershire, Vol X, 1972). Nearby monument to same family, (q.v.).
