Description

The Cannock monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard about 8 meters south of the south-west corner of the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul. It dates from the mid-18th century and is made of stone. The tomb features a flat lid with a simply-moulded edge that has a wide overhang. The corners are adorned with quarter-square balusters that have a leaf spray design on the lower part.

The south face of the tomb has a main section flanked by narrow carved panels. In the center, there is a winged head with drooping drapery, which is caught up by a bow in the top corners, allowing the drapery to fall down the ends of the main panel. The south face is framed in a rococo style, with winged heads in the corners. The east end of the tomb is plain, while the west end features a raised circle in the center, surrounded by poppies. The monument is inscribed "In pious memory of Richard Cannock died 1768," and it also commemorates his wife, who died in 1747.
