Description

The Old Rectory is an early 19th-century rectory, now a dwelling, with an east wing added in 1860. The central block is three stories high and the wings are two stories high. The building is rendered, with Welsh slate hipped roofs; the central unit and wings have V-joint pilaster strips. The central block features a plinth, wood cornice, and stone blocking course, with full-height flat bays containing 12-pane sashes over 16-pane sashes, all with stone cills. A 20th-century door is centrally placed within a broad surround featuring V-joint detailing. The wings have 12-pane over three-light sashes with glazing bars and independent hipped roofs. Inside, many original doors, shutters, and a staircase, potentially from 1860, are present. The staircase is located in an elliptical hall and runs back to the first floor, then across. A stone vaulted cellar is situated at the back of the property. Historical records indicate the rectory was rebuilt or remodelled in 1814, with a west wing added in 1820 and the east wing in 1860.
