Description
Colne Mill House is a mill owner's house that has been converted into a dwelling. It dates from the early 19th century or possibly the late 18th century. The exterior features rough render, a Welsh slate roof, and brick stacks on the left and at the back eaves. The building has three storeys and a basement, with a three-windowed front that includes sash windows with glazing bars set in reveals. The central entrance consists of a six-panel fielded door, which is partly glazed and surrounded by a moulded frame. This is sheltered by a basic 20th-century porch, and access is via eight stone steps leading to a landing. There is also a 19th-century plank door to the cellar at the bottom right, with no window above on the ground floor.
To the right of the main block, there is a one-storey hexagonal bay with a hipped slate roof, which provides access to the cellar space. At the back, there is a large sash window above the cellar access. Adjacent to the main building is a contemporary two-storey extension that features a plinth and an entry at the first floor, accessed by eight stone steps. The interior retains original shutters.
