Description
The Constans monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard about 8 meters south-east of the south-east corner of the tower of the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul. It was likely created in 1761 and is made of stone. The tomb features a flat lid with a hollow chamfer along the edge. Its corners are adorned with quarter-square gadrooned balusters that have scrolls at the bottom. The sides are decorated with rococo framing around the panels. The east end displays two scrolls at the bottom that rise as tendrils to fill the panel, while the west end features four figures—two lower figures on the inside and two upper figures set on brackets from the sides. This monument commemorates Thomas Constans, who died in 1724, and his wife, who died in 1761. The inscription includes long s's and a further inscription dated 1789. The Constans family lived at Grange Court, and there is a nearby monument to the same family.
