Description
The Astman monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard about 5 meters southeast of the south chancel porch of the Church of St. Mary. It dates from the mid-18th century and is made of stone. The tomb features a flat lid with a recessed line around the edge, scalloped corners adorned with leaf moulding, and a moulded edge to the lid. The sides and ends of the tomb are weathered, but similar decorative lines and corner treatments can be seen on the west and north faces. The monument likely commemorates an individual named Astman, who died in 1755, with inscriptions found on the lid and the north face.
