Description

This is a mid-19th century house situated on the south side of Church Street in Newent. The house is faced in roughcast render, with a brick plinth and a tiled roof. It is two windows wide and two storeys high, with coombed ceilings on the upper floor. The front elevation features two canted oriel windows on the ground floor, each with a hipped sheet-metal roof. The left bay's oriel window has a bracket below, a 16-pane window on the main face, while the right bay features sash windows without a supporting bracket. The first floor has two 16-pane sash windows which extend above the eaves. There is exposed timber framing in the gablet, with scalloped bargeboards that feature toothing. Open eaves are visible between the floors. A brick chimney is located on the left gable. The building is listed principally for its contribution to the group value of the surrounding buildings.
