Description
This chest tomb, located in the churchyard about 20 meters south-south-east of the north gate to Bell Lane at the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul, commemorates Samuel Very, who died in 1722. It is made of stone and features a plain lid with a simply-moulded edge. The south face has a central square with an upright rectangle on each side; the square contains a slightly sunk circle with an inscription surrounded by carved scrolls and wavy lines. The end panels display swags with a head above and an open book below. The north side is plain, while the ends are lyre-shaped with a raised margin. The tomb is partly sunk into the ground.
