Description
The Jones monument is a pedestal tomb located about 5 metres south of the south-east corner of the south aisle of the Church of St. Mary. It dates from the second quarter of the 19th century and is made of stone. The tomb features an iron ball on a cyma dome, with a bead detail halfway down. There is a step leading to the lid, which has a moulded edge. The monument includes a reeded frieze and raised rectangular panels with moulded edges on each side, as well as a moulded top on the plinth. It has a large square base that was originally surrounded by iron railings. The monument commemorates Jones, who died in 1824 and 1836, with a later inscription added.
