Description
The Brown monument is a rectangular pedestal tomb located about 3.5 metres east of the north porch of the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul in Westbury-on-Severn. It was likely created in 1789 and is made of stone. The tomb features a flat lid with a moulded edge and tall quarter-square gadrooned corner balusters. The sides have fielded panels with shaped heads, while the ends have rectangular fielded panels, both adorned with leaf moulding along the edges. The plinth has a moulded top and is set on a flat stone base. This monument commemorates John Brown, who died in 1789, and his wife, who died in 1823.
