Description
The Cannock monument is a pedestal tomb located in the churchyard, about 15 metres south of the south-west corner of the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul. It commemorates John Cannock of the Lake, who died in 1810. The tomb is made of stone and features indented corners. It has a flat lid with a moulded edge, which sits above a step that is set back and topped with a pyramid cap. The frieze displays raised paterae between triple vertical flutings. The sides of the tomb have raised panels with indented semi-circular heads, a moulded edge, and raised paterae in the spandrels. The plinth has a moulded top, and the lettering is well-cut.
