Description
Guy Hall Cottage is a 17th-century dwelling located on Northington Lane, Awre. Initially indicated on maps as Guy Hall, it is constructed from blue lias rubble with a Welsh slate roof. The compact building was likely part of a larger original structure, featuring a substantial stack on the right-hand side. It is three storeys high, with a south gable front that originally had a single window, now replaced with modern three-light casements. A modern lean-to has been added at ground floor, along with a small two-light casement and a very small stair light above, and a new door. The west front is a mix of sandstone and lias, containing three two-light casements. Inside, a newel staircase is located in the north-east corner, with a stone first flight and a timber second flight arranged in a semi-circular plan. The interior also features chamfered spine beams with run-out stops, some of which have been propped and scarfed. The property shares certain characteristics with Guy Hall Farm on the opposite side of the road.
