Description
The following building shall be added to the list:
ST BRIAVELS STOWE ROAD SO 50 NE 2/189 Barn about 170 metres north of Mork Farmhouse - II Barn, cartshed and byre. C17 barn; byre, outshut and cartshed added in circa C18. Sandstone rubble. Stone tile roof with gable ends, top courses are slate. Plan: 4-bay barn with cart entrance in bay to right of centre. In circa C18 a single bay byre was added to the lower right hand (south) end, a single bay cart shed added to the left end and an outshut built at the back. Exterior: The west front has a cart entrance at centre with ventilation slit to its left, open-fronted cart-shed on extreme left and doorway to byre on right; gabled dormer to left of centre. The lower right-hand (south) gable end has ventilation slits and a triangular owl-hole in apex of gable. At rear an outshut on left. Interior: Barn has C17 4-bay roof. The 3 trusses have dovetail lap jointed collars, the collar of the left hand truss is missing and the principals of the other 2 trusses are set on tie-beams. Mortice and tenon apex joints, diagonal ridgepiece and 2 tiers of large trenched purlins. The byre and cartshed have no trusses but large purlins. The rafters are intact. The outshut appears to have original roof with ties and principals. Wooden mangers in the byre.
