Description

This building is a barn located about 170 metres north of Mork Farmhouse. It dates from the 17th century, with a byre, outshut, and cartshed added in the 18th century. The structure is made of sandstone rubble and has a stone tile roof with gable ends, while the top courses are slate. The barn has a four-bay layout with a cart entrance in the bay to the right of the centre. In the 18th century, a single bay byre was added to the lower right-hand (south) end, a single bay cartshed was added to the left end, and an outshut was built at the back.

The exterior features a cart entrance at the centre of the west front, with a ventilation slit to its left, an open-fronted cartshed on the extreme left, and a doorway to the byre on the right. There is a gabled dormer to the left of centre. The lower right-hand (south) gable end includes ventilation slits and a triangular owl-hole at the apex of the gable. At the rear, there is an outshut on the left.

Inside, the barn has a 17th-century four-bay roof. The three trusses feature dovetail lap jointed collars, although the collar of the left-hand truss is missing. The principals of the other two trusses are set on tie-beams, with mortice and tenon apex joints, a diagonal ridgepiece, and two tiers of large trenched purlins. The byre and cartshed do not have trusses but feature large purlins, and the rafters are intact. The outshut appears to have its original roof with ties and principals, and there are wooden mangers in the byre.
