Description
The Barrett monument is a pedestal tomb located in the churchyard about 29 meters north-north-east of the north-east corner of the tower of the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul in Westbury-on-Severn. It commemorates William Barrett, who died in 1837, and is made of stone. The monument features a square, reeded dome at the center, topped with a small iron ball. The dome's sides sweep down to a step and a moulded edge of a flat lid. The corners are adorned with plain columns that lack capitals or bases, while the sides have a raised triple reed outline framing a rectangular panel intended for lettering. The monument has a moulded base, all resting on a flat stone slab. It bears similarities to the nearby Browning monument.
