Description
The Selwyn monument is an early 19th-century pedestal tomb located about 6 meters north of the north porch of the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul in Westbury-on-Severn. It is made of stone and features a square dome above a scotia moulding and a fillet, topped with a flat surface that has a moulded edge. The monument has a fluted frieze all around, with elongated quarter-square corner balusters beneath. Each side displays a raised oval panel surrounded by a rectangular margin, with paterae in the corners. The entire structure rests on a plinth with a moulded top and features good lettering. It commemorates John Selwyn, who died in 1803, Mary Selwyn, who died in 1828, and other family members. The monument is situated near another monument dedicated to the Selwyn family.
