Description
The Raymond monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard, approximately 14 meters south of the south aisle of the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul. It dates from the early 18th century and is made of stone. The tomb features a flat lid with a simple moulded edge and a wide projection. The south side has a main central section flanked by narrow sections, each with a moulded edge. The north side is likely similar but is badly weathered. The tomb has lyre ends with scrolls carved on the face, and an inscription is located between them on the east end, while a coat of arms is set in a sunk oval on the west side. The monument stands on a moulded plinth with a wide flat stone base that also has a moulded edge. The top of the inscription on the south side is missing, and it commemorates various members of the Raymond family who died between 1662 and 1707, including six children of William Raymond Esq., noted on the east end.
