Description
The Jackson Monument is a long pedestal tomb located in the churchyard, about 0.5 meters south of the southeast corner of the vestry at the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul. It dates from the first decade of the 19th century and is made of stone. The lid is slightly weathered, featuring a moulded edge and slightly indented corners on the long sides. The sides have raised rectangular panels with moulded edges and scalloped corners that contain paterae. The ends are designed with elongated pilasters, where the capitals have fluted sections alternating with paterae, and there is a raised panel with a moulded edge on the face of the shaft. Some italic lettering is present. The monument commemorates William Jackson, who died in 1806, and his wife Elizabeth, who died in 1804, along with various other inscriptions up to 1851.
