Description
The Wintle monument is a chest tomb located about 5 meters south of the tower of the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul in Westbury-on-Severn. It commemorates Jonathan Wintle, who died in 1809. The tomb is made of stone and features a weathered top with a moulded edge. The sides are decorated with large raised ovals and margins, also with moulded edges, and raised paterae in the corners. The ends of the tomb have elongated pilasters with raised ovals and margins on the shafts. The entire structure rests on a moulded base. This monument is part of a close group of five listed Wintle monuments.
