Description
The Jenkins monument is a pedestal tomb located in the churchyard, approximately 21 meters east-south-east of the south-east corner of the south aisle of the Church of St. Mary. It dates from the early 19th century and is constructed of stone with a hexagonal plan. The monument features an iron spike that emerges from a ball finial, a moulded base, and a weathered top to the step. The lid has a moulded edge, and the sides consist of fielded panels with a plain frieze. The plinth has a moulded top, and there is a step that runs all around just above ground level. The monument bears various inscriptions related to the Jenkins family, with the earliest date recorded as 1821.
