11/252 Newton monument, in churchyard, about 3m north of east end of north aisle, Church of St. Peter and St. Peter.

GV II

Chest tomb: mid C18; stone. Plain lid with rounded nosing and hollow chamfer; corners quarter-square gadrooned balusters. Sides, main section flanked by narrow panels: carved head with wings in centre, swags to pendant rings in corners, with pendant leaves and flowers down sides. Flanking panels pendant rings, leaves and flowers. Ends raised rectangular panel. Inscription weathered, probably commemorates John Newton.
