Description
This is an unidentified chest tomb located in the churchyard about 20 metres south of the chancel wall of St Mary’s Church. It dates from the late 18th century and is made of sandstone. The tomb features a flat top with a moulded edge and fielded panels. At the time of the survey in November 1983, the base was noted to be sunk. The inscriptions on the tomb are generally not legible, but the north side includes the name Keziah and a date from the 18th century. The tomb lies approximately 5 metres north of the churchyard boundary wall and is aligned to the south of the James Gough monument.
