Description
The Phillips Monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard, approximately 6 meters south of the south-west corner of the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul. It commemorates Abraham Phillips, who died in 1752, and is made of stone. The tomb features a flat lid with a hollow chamfer along the edge. The north face has a main center section flanked by ends, which includes a swag above a carved head. The center panel is fielded and surrounded by scroll decoration. The south side has a similar layout but is plain, with the center section defined by a carved border. The ends of the tomb are shaped like lyres, and there is leaf carving on the short faces, with a leafy spray on the east face.
