Description
This is an unidentified chest tomb located in the churchyard approximately 7 metres south of the east wall of the chancel of the Church of St Mary. It dates from the late 18th century and is made of sandstone. The tomb features a flat top with a chamfered edge, square quarter balusters, and plain panels. The base is sunk, and at the time of the survey in November 1983, the monument was leaning. A date of 1799 is discernible on the tomb. This monument is one of a pair in this location, with this being the most southerly, situated about 2.5 metres north of the Edward Dorrington monument.
