Description

SO 61 SE 2/68

NEWNHAM LOWER HIGH STREET (North-west side) Union Cottage

GV II

Detached dwelling. Probably C17 with C19 front. Rough rendered, concrete tile roof, steep-pitched and with part catslide to rear. One stack well left of centre, and one to right gable. Two storeys, 2-windowed, 2-light casements set very wide apart and with much plain walling; late C20 glazed door, centre. The cottage is set low, and below the level of the road; it may have been associated with the river inlet here before later road modifications.
