Description
This is an unidentified monument located in the churchyard about 8 metres south of the porch door to the Church of St Mary in St Briavels. It is a lofty chest tomb dating from the early to mid-18th century, made of sandstone. The tomb features a flat top with a moulded edge, gadrooned quarter balusters, and cartouches. At the west end, there is a coat of arms displaying three heads over three short swords, and on the south side, there are winged cherubs. While the inscriptions are generally not legible, one date appears to be '176..'. The design is vigorous and likely executed early in the century. The monument is situated immediately west of the path leading to the church entrance and south of the Kedgwin Hoskins monument.
