Description
The Jackson Monument is an elongated pedestal tomb located in the churchyard, approximately 9 meters south of the south aisle and west of the porch of the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul. It dates from around 1835 and is made of stone. The monument features a flat lid with a moulded edge and quarter-square gadrooned balusters at the corners. The sides have sunk panels with moulded edges and eared tops and bottoms, while the main face is curved back at the edges to enhance the frame's relief. The ends have fielded edges leading to rectangular panels with indented segmental tops and bottoms. The plinth has a moulded top. This monument commemorates John Jackson, who died in 1835, and his wife, who died in 1834, along with other inscriptions dating from 1799 to 1864.
