Description
The Bower Monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard, approximately 8 meters north of the priest's door of the Church of St. Mary. It commemorates Thomas Bower, who died in 1775, and is made of stone. The tomb features a flat lid with a moulded edge and slightly indented corners along the long edge. The frieze displays alternating fluted and blank sections. Each side has a raised oval panel with a double bay leaf swag above, which falls down at each end. The ends of the tomb have burning torches carved on the return edges, and the ends also feature fielded panels. The base of the monument is covered by the ground.
