Description

Old Court is a large house built in the late 17th century or early 18th century, with an extension added in 1871, as indicated by a datestone. The older part features irregular Flemish bond dark brown brick and has a tiled roof. The main block is three windows wide, with a cross wing at the end that has two windows, creating an 'L' shaped plan that is enlarged at the rear.

On the main wing's left side, there is a sash window at the left end with a flat rubbed-brick arch. To the right of this window is a half-glazed door with thick glazing bars and two fielded panels, topped by a semi-circular fanlight with three panes, all set in a moulded surround with a projecting flat head on shaped brackets. There is a marked projection for the chimney immediately to the right, followed by a narrow sash window similar to the first.

The cross wing features two French doors with two lights above, all under flat rubbed-brick arches. Beyond this is a single-storey projection with a canted end and a battlemented top. The first floor has a plain brick string course and sash windows with rubbed-brick arches on the left, above the door, and in the corner by the chimney, along with two in the projecting wing. There is an additional sash window at an intermediate level between the door and the first window, featuring 12-pane sashes with wide glazing bars.

The house has a modillion eaves cornice and a hipped roof with lead hips. A plain chimney rises from the base in the center of the cross wing, and there are two gabled dormers on the main wing, with a further hipped dormer at the end, all featuring 12-pane centre-pivot windows. The hipped dormers have moulded eaves on the right return. The interior has not been inspected.
