Description
Hickman's Court is a dwelling that was formerly a farmhouse, dating from the 16th or 17th century. The building features a mix of materials, including rubble, rendered rubble on the east side, and painted brick on the west, topped with a Welsh slate roof. It has an L-shaped layout, with the original house running parallel to the lane and a long low wing added in the 19th century facing west.
The front of the building, which faces the lane, is divided into two parts: the left section has a hipped roof and is two storeys high with one window, while the slightly set-back right section has a gabled roof and is also two storeys with one window, leading up to a three-storey gable. The ground floor features three-light windows, while the first floor has two-light wood mullioned windows. There is a four-panel door to the left of centre, which is currently blocked.
On the east gable, there are two four-light and one two-light mullioned casements, with ovolo moulding on the timber at the first floor. Inside, the property contains various heavy chamfered beams and joists, along with a roof structure and a large open fire with a heavy bressummer. A new entrance is being created in the return wing, and alteration works were in progress at the time of the survey.
